Rudy Jansen is a writer, producer, and instructor originally from Omaha, Nebraska. He’s worked in film and television in Los Angeles for over a decade and he has professional experience in casting, producing, and directing.
While earning his MFA in Screenwriting at UCLA, Rudy paid special attention to crafting compelling characters that speak with voices of their own. He gravitates toward complicated families and bittersweet stories often inspired by real life. He’s a former Academy Nicholl Fellowship quarterfinalist who aspires to write and direct big-budget cinematic epics as well as lo-fi indies, across both film and television.
In addition to his talents as a writer and filmmaker, Rudy is a visual artist with experience in analogue photography, woodcarving, graphic design, and screen printing. He lost a few summers selling T-shirts in parking lots outside of Grateful Dead shows, but now he’s trying to put that experience to use for a documentary about Deadheads in Japan.
